Gratitude Entry #6: A good cup of tea

              I find drinking a good cup of tea to be a soothing experience. It starts with a deep breath to take in the fragrance of the tea. Next comes a light sip of tea. It’s enough to catch the flavors but not enough to burn the tongue. Finally, is feeling the warmth of the tea fill my body. Sometimes I will put on calm meditative music and turn drinking a cup of tea into a practice of meditation. I let the action of drinking tea take me out of my mind and into my body. It takes me away from negative thoughts and fills my body with positive energy. I am grateful for a good cup of tea because it helps me bounce back. I am glad I developed this behavior in my last stay at a crisis center. I am excited to try different teas and find the time of day to enjoy them. At the time of writing this entry, I am starting the day with green tea and progressing into tension tamer later in the day/night. I am glad I started drinking tea because I can use this at most stages of my mental health. It’s a great technique to bring peace of mind.
